Students at the Installer Institute apply what they learn to their own vehicles during class workshops. But what happens after class is over? Josh Beachum, graduate from the Installer Institute, went on to build several award-winning show vehicles, earning sponsorships from some of the biggest names in the industry. His current show truck, the Lady Luck Excursion, appears at custom car and truck shows around the country, taking home plenty of awards along the way.
The Lady Luck Excursion is a 2005 Ford Excursion that has been custom built with a custom front end and also the full interior from a 2016 F-250 along with many customizations on the interior and exterior. Inside the custom Bodyguard Bumpers are two light bars by Heise LED Lighting Systems and four cube lights, with two additional cube lights in the back.
Why customize a Ford Excursion? Beachum wanted to use a vehicle that wasn’t commonly seen in most of today’s custom builds. His biggest challenge was integrating the 2005 electrical components to work with the modern technology of the 2016 dash and interior. This hard work has not gone unnoticed. The Lady Luck Excursion won Best of Show at the 2017 and 2018 NOPI Nationals Spring Break, Best Lifted Truck at the 2018 Orange Beach Invasion, Best Lifted at Battle in Bama and has won numerous other Best of awards at custom car competitions throughout the country.
